The Swiss Tropical and Public Health Institute (Swiss TPH) is a world-leading institute in global health
with a particular focus on low- and middle-income countries. Associated with the University of Basel,
Swiss TPH combines research, education and services at local, national and international levels. 900
people from 80 nations work at Swiss TPH focusing on infectious and non-communicable diseases,
environment, society and health as well as health systems and interventions.
The PhD will focus on cognitive performance, behavior and symptoms in an on-going
epidemiological study on the health effects of radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) in
adolescents. For this prospective epidemiological cohort study, we are currently recruiting 900
adolescents from 7th and 8th grade in Northwest and Central Switzerland with one year of follow-up.
In a nested measurement study, objective sleep and personal RF-EMF exposure data is collected
during one week.
