February 11, 2016; 3.15-4.30 pm at the University of Basel (Kollegienhaus, Petersplatz 1, room 120)
As a partner university of FutureLearn, we are proud to host a talk by Simon Nelson at the University of Basel on the 11th of February. Nelson founded the Open University-backed initiative FutureLearn back in December 2012 and has quickly established it as a high quality entrant to the emerging online learning market. To date, FutureLearn has partnered with over 75 leading universities, specialist education institutions and centres of research excellence around the world to deliver over free online courses to its global community learners.
In his speech at the University of Basel, Simon Nelson will address the challenges and possibilities of quality assurance that go along with FutureLearn’s “mission to pioneer the best social learning experiences for everyon, anywhere”. Main focus of the speech will be FutureLearn’s strategy of transforming the quality and effectiveness of teaching together with its broad community of educators and learners. How can quality be assured and developed when there are no fixed standards applying to online education yet? Find out and join on the 11th of February 2016 (3.15 pm) at the University of Basel.
The talk will be open to the interested public of the University of Basel as well as to the broader Swiss eEducation community. It is requested that people interested register for the event at bbit@unibas.ch. Feel free to spread this invitation.
