Join our Board Member at Large Rachel Plews  to explore educational development initiatives in the United States. In addition to looking at specific examples of programming (Project-Based Teaching Scholars for PhD student teaching development, communities of practice for new technology integration, fostering a culture of teaching inquiry with interdisciplinary cohort programs), we’ll discuss the opportunities and challenges of working in a mature teaching center at a large research institution with additional campuses around the world.

Ruth Puhr

Originally from Ireland, I have been living and working in Switzerland for over 20 years, the last 17 of which have been at Les Roches Global Hospitality Education. Initially a member of faculty, I became a Faculty Development Advisor in 2018 and am now Head of Quality Assurance and Academic Development. I hold an EdD from University College London and my academic background is interdisciplinary with an MA in Ethnomusicology and MSc in Information Technology. As a faculty developer, I advocate for innovative approaches rooted in human connections and believe in the ultimate power of curiosity. My research interests include professional identity, the role of higher education in society and competency-informed practice.
